Tibor Polgár
President of TMSZ
Mr. Tibor Polgár completed his studies in the College in Szolnok, specialised in Catering and Hotel and in the University of Pécs, in marketing specialisation. He has also completed a travel guide course in English and German languages. He started his career in Germany at Hotel Allgau Stern. After returning to Hungary, he was appointed to general manager of Hotel Silfa (Mol Hotels Rt.) in Balatonakarattya where he spent 2 years. Thenafter Tibor worked at Hilton Budapest as Sales Manager for 3 years. Subsequently he was promoted to general manager at Thermal Hotel Visegrád.
He moved onto Balatontourist Zrt. where in 2005 he became Commercial and Marketing Director and from 2007 to 2011, he acted as General Director of the company. He is also a tutor for the College of Communication in Budapest.
Péter Takács – Vice President
Managing Director, Malév Air Tours
Mr. Péter Takács started his career in a language school, but he soon changed to Study Tours Travel Agency, one of the leading language travel agencies in the market. During his 8 years there, he was Senior Client Manager and then, Sales Director. He launched his own company in 2004 that focuses on event management and catering. In late 2008, he was asked to reorganise the Malév Air Tours travel agency, and completed the process successfully. Presently he works on the relaunch of the agency.
Attila Hegedűs – Vice President
Managing Director, BDO Hungary Hotel and Real Estate Ltd.
Mr. Attila Hegedűs has more than a decade of experience in consultancy and spent nearly 20 years in the hotel and tourism sector. As an advisor, he has prepared a number of market assessments, entry strategies and feasibility studies in Hungary, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.
Between 2000 and 2010 Attila was a key member of Horwath HTL Hungary & Russia, during his time with the company, in the past 5 years he was a co-owner and director of the company.
Until 2000 Attila worked at the sales department of the Holiday Inn Budapest-Budaörs hotel. Prior to that, he has also gained significant experience at the PR department of the Hungarian Tourism Board. He has started his professional hotel career in the USA. Since August 2010 Attila is a co-owner and managing director of BDO Hungary Hotel and Real Estate Services Ltd.
Gábor Fáska
Director, Opera Garden Hotel & Apartments
Mr. Gábor Fáska started his professional career at Hotel InterContinental Budapest, where he had worked for 3 years at the Front Office Department. After that, he worked for the 5-Star Boutique Hotel Fitzwilliam in Dublin as Front Office Supervisor. After returning to Hungary, he was the Front Office Manager at NH Budapest for 2 years, where he participated in the duties of other departments as well. He has been the concept-maker for Opera Garden Hotel & Apartments and its general manager since its opening. He is a founding member of the Hungarian Boutique Hotels Association. He speaks English, Italian and Spanish.
Mihály Szabó
Director, Best Western Hotel Ginkgo Sas
Mr. Mihály Szabó received his BA in the fields of Hotel, Catering and Tourism in Szolnok. He then worked as the deputy restaurant manager of Hotel Hungaria in Szeged, owned by Danubius-HungarHotels, and over a short time, he became Sales Manager of the Hotel. Following the takeover and rebranding of the hotel as Novotel Szeged, for a short time he continued as sales manager and in 2000 Mihály was the head of corporate sales at Accor Pannonia’s Budapest office. During the course of 2004, he participated at the general manager training programme of Accor at various Novotel properties in Hungary (Budapest Congress, Budapest Centrum and Székesfehérvár) and subsequently as of 1st March 2005 he was appointed as the General Manager of Novotel Szeged where he was in this capacity until 2010. From Szeged he moved onto becoming the opening General Manager of Best Western Hotel Ginkgo Sas in Hódmezővásárhely, participating in the development and opening of the property. In late 2011 he relocated back to Szeged and took over the operation of Napfényfürdő Aquapark as its general director.
András Polgár
Director, Globall Football Park & Sporthotel
Mr. András Polgár earned his degree at BGF KVIF, at the hotel-tourism faculty. He continued his studies in the USA and now he is attending a master programme at the marketing faculty of Pécs University. He started his professional career at Hotel Stadion’s F&B department. He then worked for 1.5 years at a 700-room luxury resort in the USA. He then spent almost 2 years leading the conference and event department of Westend Hilton. After having obtained in depth experience in operations, he further expanded his knowledge at the sales department of Marriott Budapest. At the age of 27 years he took full control of one of Carinthia’s leading 4-star superior hotels. After returning from Austria to Telki, he participated in development process of the MLSZ (Hungarian Football Federation) owned Sport Centre and Hotel. In 2009 he won the title „Young Hotelier of the Year” by the Hungarian Hotel Association.
Vilmos Selmeczi – Head of Gastronomy Section
Owner, Waldorf Group
Mr. Vilmos Selmeczi completed his studies at BGF KVIF. He started his professional career in 1986 at Hotel Duna Intercontinental then he worked for the Hotel Atrium Hyatt as Banquet maitre d’hotel. He continued his career in the USA at Princess Cruises and after returning to Hungary, he founded Waldorf Group that he presently owns and operates. He first managed Waldorf Catering, then Waldorf Café, than Waldorf Design and since 2010, Waldorf Hotels. He was also active in hotel developments. He was part of the management team of Hotel Marina Port after its redevelopment as Restaurant Director, and from 2009 he was the general director of Abacus Business & Wellness Hotel****, being there from the very first moments of planning until completion. Currently, he as owner of Waldorf Group is more active in the operation of the firm he has established years ago.
Gergő Galla – Head of Hotel Section
General Manager, Regnum Residence
Mr. Gergő Galla graduated at the College of Commerce, Catering and Tourism in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree.
After graduation, he started his professional career at Hilton Budapest as junior manager. He gained experience in all departments and after one year he was promoted to Hilton meetings manager. From 2002, he spent two years at the InterContinental Budapest as conference services manager. His responsibilities included conference sales, and running national and international congresses and events.
In 2004 he was a member of the pre-opening management of the RadissonSAS Birdland resort and spa hotel as restaurant and banquet manager. His main duties were to prepare the restaurants and the banquet department for opening, including staffing and contracting with suppliers. The same year Gergő joined Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal as director of MICE, where he gained international sales experience and built up strong relations with key players of the international hotel industry. In 2006 he became director of sales at Le Meridien Budapest.
He joined Tourconsult Kft. in March 2007 as a consultant focusing on hotel management advisory. In March 2010 he became the pre opening General Manager of Hotel Regnum Residence and he is acctive in this position since opening.
Gábor Horváth
Olympic and World Champion of kayaking
Mr. Gábor Horváth is a world-class athlete, has two gold and one silver Olympic medals, four gold medals in World Championships and four times European Champion. Gábor was born on 15 November 1971 in Budapest. His athletic career began in 1984, at Budapest Honvéd sports club. He finished his active sport career in 2008. Currently he is the director of Domino-Honvéd Kayak-Canoe Sports Club which is the most successful such club in Hungary. He is also the sport director of a non-profit company that is responsible for the sport activities of District XI in Budapest. He conducted his studies in the Vági István polytechnics school and then in the University of Physical Education at the sports management faculty.
